Hún fjallar um tvo löggumenn,Martin Riggs(Mel Gibson),

Og Roger Maurthough(Danny glover).

Riggs er óhamingju legu maður sem missti konu sína sem á ekkert líf eftir enn Maurthough er hamingjulegur maður

með frábæra fjöldskyldu.

Einn gamall vinur Maurthough's frá stríðinu missir dóttur sína sem hoppaði út um gluggan,Hann Maurthough rannsakar þetta mál og hann fær félaga með í þetta.

Þeir félagar Gibson og Glover eru alveg bráðskemmtilegir og Gary Busey sem þrjóturinn Joshua stelur allavega hálfri senunni. Við rannsókn á því sem virðist vera sjálfsmorð reka þeir nefin ofan í kopp fíkniefnasala og verða að hafa sig alla við til að halda sér og sínum á lífi.
